Thanks to designers like Jon Sherman, wallpaper has never looked so good. Sherman is the CEO of Flavor Paper, a Brooklyn-based manufacturer of some of the most creative wallpaper designs you’re likely to ever find. The collections are eye candy in the extreme, with even the most traditional designs getting twisted with the Flavor Paper spark. Victorian flowers go neon; patterns of toile depict scenes from Brooklyn, and even a traditional damask incorporates sharp geometric shapes. And that’s just the beginning…fractal superheroes and mind-bending patterns abound, but nothing hit us like the B-A-N-A-N-A-S! paper, a pattern of pop-arty bananas on shimmery mylar that–yup!–actually smells like bananas.
But while we dream of covering our walls with one of each, right now we’re just focusing on their fantastic flagship store. Fun and funky design permeates Flavor Paper’s headquarters, which also include a living space for Sherman and a few other employees. Skylab Architecture made the CEO’s penthouse a creatively designed retro-futuristic bachelor pad–and probably one of the coolest homes in Cobble Hill. Our favorite room is this kitchen which is rich in shimmer and covered in a faux crocodile wall treatment. It’s luxe, masculine, and definitely unique!
